Students of academic group ІФ-241, majoring in Philology, prepared and presented their own projects as part of the English Language Practice course within the module “Ukraine in the English-Speaking World.” The topics included “Ukraine and Ukrainians through Foreigners’ Eyes,” “Cultural Differences between the UK, the USA, Canada, and Australia,” “What Makes British Culture Different?”, “Cultural Characteristics of the USA,” “Ukraine’s International Cooperation with the UK and the USA,” and “What Makes Ukrainian Culture Unique?”
In choosing their presentation topics, the students focused on the features of Ukrainian culture and how it is perceived around the world, as well as on cultural differences between Ukraine and the UK, Canada, Australia, and the USA.
Preparing the presentations gave the students an opportunity not only to deepen their insights into English-speaking countries but also to look at Ukrainian cultural identity and its place in the global cultural space from a new perspective. An important point was understanding that knowledge of different peoples’ cultural characteristics, values, and communication styles helps overcome stereotypes and promote open dialogue.
Cooperation between Ukraine and English-speaking countries is not limited to political, economic, or educational ties. It also provides an opportunity to learn more about each other. Cultural dialogue helps develop a deeper understanding of Ukraine, its history and values, and its contemporary image in the world.
