Teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages for Specific Purposes, Lashuk N.M. conducted an open practical lesson on the subject “Foreign Language” (educational program “Criminal Justice (Court. Prosecutor’s Office. Advocacy)”) for the group KY-192, on the topic “Crimes and Punishment” on October 15, 2020 online on the Zoom platform.<\/p>

A short animated video was used in the lesson \u00ab<\/strong>School of crime<\/strong>\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>

<\/p>

Watching short animated films has several advantages, in particular, they can be used at different stages of the lesson: at the preparatory stage before reading or listening, at the stage of studying various grammatical structures and activating vocabulary. One of the priorities of using video in foreign language classes is to increase the motivation of higher education students to learn a foreign language, it is the opportunity to expand the worldview of students, going beyond the classroom; among other reasons: the creation of partial immersion in the speech environment, the development of listening skills, improving the quality of learning, problematization of classes and the development of critical creative thinking, the integration of media educational elements; however, the invaluable contribution of short animated films is in the development of speaking skills and the creation of discussion situations.<\/p>

Another advantage of using short animated films is the focus on discussing the culture of the country whose language is being studied; students have the opportunity to see the contexts of the manifestation of cultural aspects through the observation of humor, idioms used in video.<\/p>

Tasks that should be prepared for short animated films:<\/strong><\/p>

<\/p>

<\/p>

–<\/p>

understanding of general information;<\/p>

– observation and analysis of the characters of the main (secondary) characters;<\/p>

– reproduction of the situation;<\/p>

– description of the sequence of events;<\/p>

– prediction of plot development;<\/p>

– understanding the cultural characteristics of the behavior of the heroes;<\/p>

– expression of own opinion about the plot, characters;<\/p>

– drawing up a dialogue between the characters (especially if the film is silent);<\/p>

– location of fragments in the order of their appearance in the video;<\/p>

– evaluation of the behavior of the characters after watching;<\/p>

– video analysis using media educational elements<\/p>
