A second-year student (I\u0424-241) of the Educational Programme \u201cEnglish Language and Translation\u201d Sofia Sadova<\/strong> is taking part in the large international project \u2014 the 33rd International Integration Meeting \u201cHOMO NEOPHILUS vs. HOMO NEOPHOBUS: Human in Time.\u201d<\/strong> The project lasts from March 26 to June 25, 2026, and brings together members of the academic community from Kielce, Warsaw, Chernihiv, Ternopil, and other university centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the international meeting, Sofia presents the results of her research entitled \u201cLoneliness as a Key Motif in Mary Shelley\u2019s Novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus<\/em>.\u201d Her work demonstrates the high level of professional training of future philologists, their ability to work with English-language original sources, carry out deep literary analysis, and interpret classical works in the context of modern humanitarian challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main platform for the project is Szko\u0142a Otwartego Umys\u0142u (\u201cSchool of the Open Mind\u201d) \u2014 an international intellectual platform that brings together young researchers in the fields of literary studies, linguistics, and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative was founded at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce (UJK) with the aim of creating a kind of \u201cuniversity without walls,\u201d where students, PhD candidates, and young scholars can take part in open intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue. Today, Szko\u0142a Otwartego Umys\u0142u operates at the Instytut Literaturoznawstwa i J\u0119zykoznawstwa UJK and is an important international partner for students of the Educational Programme \u201cEnglish Language and Translation.\u201d It gives future translators the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 practise language communication in an academic environment;
\u2022 participate in interdisciplinary discussions;
\u2022 develop critical thinking skills necessary for a professional philologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is organised through the joint efforts of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Stowarzyszenie Wsp\u00f3\u0142pracy \u201cPolska \u2013 Wsch\u00f3d\u201d;
\u2022 Centrum Nauki i Kultury UJK;
\u2022 Instytut Literaturoznawstwa i J\u0119zykoznawstwa UJK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in such events is an important part of the development strategy of the Educational Programme \u201cEnglish Language and Translation,\u201d which aims to prepare specialists who can confidently work in the international academic and cultural space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
